BELGRADE, Nov 26 (Hina) - The security of an ICTY indictee, Bosnian
Serb war-time commander General Ratko Mladic, is almost perfect,
consisting of about 300 persons with up-to-date arms, read an
article in the Belgrade-based magazine "Reporter". #L#
According to the magazine, Mladic, wanted by the UN war crimes
tribunal, never goes to the same places, and is the only one
deciding about his movements. He incessantly changes security
guards who are in his vicinity.
One can believe Yugoslav army officers when they say that the army
does not directly protect this notorious war criminal. But it
should not be ruled out that a significant number of professional
soldiers are helping him either indirectly or by offering some
information, because of friendship, political views or other
reasons, the magazine asserted.
It also cited a military intelligence source as saying that during
the withdrawal of the Yugoslav Army from Kosovo in 1999, a whole
arsenal of arms was transferred to be in the function of Mladic's
security.
