SISAK, Nov 22 (Hina) - The protest workers with Sisak's Ironworks
and its Remont Caprag company began yesterday at the town's New
Bridge ended around 2 p.m. on Friday after pay slips for August and
September were distributed and the workers announced they would
stage a new protest next Tuesday. #L#
About 1,000 workers who were at the bridge were told by the leader of
the Ironworks' trade unions, Mato Somic, the slips for two pays had
arrived.
Somic said that the workers had proved that one could obtain their
earned wage by protesting and that the payment, which could not be
carried out in 13 1/2 days, could actually be processed in only a few
hours.
The Ironworks' employees are to stage another protest on Tuesday
demanding that other union demands, which refer to the survival of
the company and its workers, be met.
