CO-ORDINATING BODY FOR DEFENCE OF SISAK IRONWORKS FOUNDED

SISAK, Nov 18 (Hina) - Two branch offices of metal workers' unions in Sisak Ironworks on Monday founded a Coordinating Body for Sisak Ironworks' survival and the preservation of jobs, which will be active as a joint body of union branch offices, unionists told a press conference after a session of the coordinating body. #L# At 8AM Monday, about 1,000 Sisak Ironworks workers, led by unions, took over the factory and management building with an aim to control the work and management in the factory and protect the property and workers of the ironworks. The workers allegedly wished to prevent all activities which could harm the company and its employees, considering the fact that a sales contract with the former owner "Sisak Ironworks Nova d.o.o." and "Trubo Impex" has not yet been formally and legally terminated. It was agreed that workers would continue to arrive at work at 8AM until receiving late wages, in line with an agreement they concluded with Vice Premier Slavko Linic on November 7. (hina) it sb
