LJUBLJANA, Nov 14 (Hina) - A runoff presidential vote in Slovenia
will be held on Sunday, December 1, the Slovene election commission
reported on Thursday. #L#
The run-off will see two candidates - the incumbent prime minister
Janez Drnovsek, who won 44.42% of votes in the first election round
last Sunday, and Barbara Brezigar, a former chief state prosecutor,
who won 30.75% of votes.
The candidates' electoral headquarters have stated that they will
not change their approach to the election campaign. Drnovsek's
Liberals will accentuate his role as a statesman while parties of
the right centre will stress the need to elect new people in Slovene
politics. On December 1 an electorate of around 1.6 million will
also choose the heads of those municipalities where none of the
candidates has won the majority of votes in the first round.
