According to the official election results, signed and confirmed by
UN Civil Administrator Michael Steiner at the OSCE headquarters on
Sunday, Rugova's party has won the elections in 18 of 30 Kosovo
municipalities, Hashim Thaqi's Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK)
has won the vote in six and Serb parties and coalitions in five
municipalities. Rugova's party and Ramush Haradinaj's Alliance for
Kosovo's Future won half the votes each in one municipality.
Haradinaj's party is third according to the number of votes won, but
it has not won the majority in any municipality.
The DSK has won in Pristina, Urosevac, Gnjilane, Mitrovica and Pec,
the DPK in Decan, while Serb parties have won in Leposavic, Zubin
Potok, Zvecani, Strbac and Novo Brdo.
Steiner told reporters that he was satisfied with the turnout,
except in the Serb part of Kosovska Mitrovica, where the elections
were boycotted.
A total of 53.86 percent of registered voters participated in the
October 26 municipal vote.
