Racan said that the latest dispute within the Croatian Peasants'
Party regarding the privatisation was "productive". "In solving
problems one must show patience, tolerance and good timing", the
SDP president said at a press conference at the end of a two-day SDP
conference in Tuheljske Toplice.
At the conference, the SDP decided to try to work off its mandate,
correct mistakes and work on more adequate media presentation of
positive results in the work of the SDP and the government.
Commenting on a statement of the European Union Ambassador who
criticised the Croatian government for not achieving consensus on
relations with the Hague-based war crimes tribunal, Racan said he
was shocked because the government was being criticised for failing
to make the Opposition to think like the government.
Asked where he saw Croatia in ten years, Racan said it was
indisputable that Croatia would join the European Union in ten
years, despite pessimistic prognosis. He stressed the government
would continue to work on the programme of approaching the European
Union.
