"We regret this, aware that this is to the detriment of government's
efforts, but also of general Bobetko," Racan said at a news
conference.
Racan said that general Bobetko, whom the ICTY has indicted for war
crimes, was in serious condition, but that in spite of that, he was
not going to the hospital.
"In this condition, he is being bombed with misinformation, even
set-ups," Racan said, but declined to speak in detail about the
people he was referring to.
Bobetko's health condition is serious, he cannot move, nor leave
Zagreb, Racan said.
The prime minister said that the medical records and documents
about General Bobetko's health had been at The Hague for a week
already, that they had been handed over to the war crime tribunal's
president and chief prosecutor.
Racan said the government would continue to use legal instruments
expecting results, namely a decision of the Hague tribunal's
Council of Appeals, regarding its two requests in the case of
General Janko Bobetko, as well as the assessment of the Croatian
Constitutional Court.
Croatia will respect the Council of Appeals' decision, and will act
in keeping with the law. This means, Racan says, that Croatia will
forward Bobetko's indictment to the County Court for further
procedure.
The premier said the Council of Appeals could discuss Croatia's
requests within ten days.
