Japan, Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula expressed
satisfaction with the talks he held with his hosts. #L#
Picula told Hina on the phone that Japan had shown interest in
enhancing its presence in south-east Europe.
The Croatian minister, as an honorary guest, opened a seminar on
possibilities for Japanese direct investments in south-eastern
European countries.
Picula described Croatia as a promising partner for Japanese
investors and presented concrete proposals as to how Croatia could
facilitate Japan's presence in other countries in transition,
reads a statement released by the Croatian Foreign Ministry.
The Croatian minister held talks in the Japanese Ministry of
Economy, Trade and Industry during which he pointed to a
possibility for Japan to participate, with Croatia's help, in the
work of multilateral and regional organisations such as the
Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, Central European Initiative or CEFTA
(Central European Free Trade Agreement).
Picula also met presidents of three Japanese agencies that play a
crucial role in the promotion of economic and cultural
cooperation.
Croatia offered the enhancement of cooperation through healthy
seafood exports, including the breeding of tuna and other sorts of
mariculture, read the statement.
Picula and a Croatian delegation which included officials of the
Croatian Economy Ministry and Chamber of Commerce (HGK) on Sunday
begin their visit to South Korea.
