"Whether it's NATO or the European Union, Poland is a few steps
ahead of Croatia and can help not only with advice but also through
concrete cooperation and lobbying for Croatia in the processes of
Euro-Atlantic integration," Minister Antunovic said upon
returning from Warsaw.
She told reporters that opportunities for military and technical
co-operation with Poland were great, but the first step would be to
sign an agreement on the protection of confidential data. The
Croatian minister believes that it will be signed soon.
She added the Polish side showed interest in overhauling
helicopters of the Croatian Air Force.
She mentioned there were possibilities for Zagreb to purchase
Polish MIG 21 planes which Poland should soon abandon, in
compliance with its obligations in NATO. However, for the time
being this is "just being discussed, given that Croatia has not yet
defined either the size of the Air Force or its development,"
Antunovic said.
This job should wrap up next March, when concrete talks on the issue
could ensue, she said.
