The SFOR (Stabilisation Force) helicopter units will be
transferred to Mostar in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina and Rajlovac
near Sarajevo, de Lambert told Hina, adding that the transfer was
part of the reorganisation of SFOR's south-east sector division.
De Lambert confirmed the division was being reduced from 5,500 to
3,500 troops.
Some international officials active in Bosnia say the number of
SFOR's 18,000 troops in the country should be reduced to 12,000.
De Lambert said the reorganisation of SFOR was not related to
possible strikes against Iraq, but to the entire Bosnian situation,
its purpose being to enable local authorities to perform their
duties.
SFOR will remain capable of facing any challenge and its reserve
troops are always on alert, de Lambert said.
