BELGRADE, Nov 2 (Hina) - The survival of Serbia's ruling coalition,
DOS, was agreed on at a two-day closed-door meeting of the DOS
presidency which began near Sid on Friday evening and wrapped up on
Saturday afternoon. #L#
Agreement was reached on all issues considered, the DOS presidency
said in a statement today. The meeting tackled the work of the
Serbian parliament, the election of Serbia's President, the
constitutional charter of the future Serbia-Montenegro
federation, and Serbia's new Constitution.
The details of what has been agreed on, however, are not revealed.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and co-president of the Social
Democratic Party Zarko Korac told Radio B92 the DOS presidency had
invited Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica's Democratic Party
of Serbia to return to the Serbian parliament.
The DOS presidency previously decided to oust Kostunica's party
from the coalition and take its 45 mandates in the Serbian
parliament. This was done in line with a DOS coalition agreement
from 2000, which stipulates that a party which leaves the coalition
loses its MP seats. The Yugoslav Constitutional Court ruled this
was against the Constitution. The decision of the Serbian
Constitutional Court on the matter is pending.
