ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - On the occasion of All Souls' Day (November 2), Bishop Juraj Jezerinac, who is in charge of spiritual care in the military, on Saturday held a Requiem Mass at St. Mark's Church in Zagreb in tribute to all dead soldiers and civilian victims of the Homeland Defence War. #L# During the service, the Catholic dignitary called on people to be "a living monument and the permanent testimony to the ideal for which Croatian soldiers gave their lives." "We must never forget that the soldiers, with hearts imbued with faith and love, hearts that prayed to God, sacrificed their lives so that Croatia would not be sacrificed," the bishop added. Bishop Jezerinac urged that prayers be said for all the dead, victims of the Homeland Defence War and for all missing and wounded persons. He appealed for praying for the enemy, like Jesus taught Christians, and for all who did not wish well to others. He said prayers should be said for any man entraped by hatred so that he could be freed from this serious ailment of the soul. The bishop called on the present faithful to accept each other like Christian brothers and sisters, as Christ died for all people and for each man on this world. Besides parents, families and friends of the dead Croatian soldiers, present at the Mass were Defence Minister Zeljka Antunovic, War Veterans' Minister Ivica Pancic, representatives of the interior ministry and some high-ranking army officers.
