Speaking about holiness and a paper the Croatian Bishops'
Conference recently released in that regard, Kosic recalled that
the document, called "Called on to Holiness", stated that the
promotion of holiness in Croatia was primarily connected to the
advocacy of reconciliation, solidarity and social justice.
"Called on to Holiness" points to a deep mistrust among Croatian
citizens which is of national or political nature, due to
increasing social rifts and insensitivity towards the weakest and
poorest, said the assistant bishop.
He added the document suggested encouraging and supporting process
which led to a society in which all citizens were equal in
fundamental human rights and duties.
Recalling that Croatia's problems were also the result of the
consequences of last decade's war, Kosic pointed to the need of
having hope in the future. Such hope is possible only if there exist
conditions in which all can achieve the basic human needs, like a
job, a place to live, a family, and child-rearing, he said.
