This trend exists in the world and the World Veterans Federation has
the same approach, respecting all differences that exist between
associations that attract veterans from various wars, the Croatian
ministry says.
The ministry believes that continual merger will be apparent in the
near future and considers that it would be worthwhile bringing
veterans from World War II and the Homeland War closer together.
A founding assembly has been announced for next Saturday in Veliki
Tabor (just outside Zagreb) of the Community of Associations of all
Croat War Veterans and Volunteers of the Republic of Croatia at the
country level. The assembly should unite participants of the
Croatian Homeland army 1941 - 1945, NOB and defenders in the
Homeland War.
The Community should attract 27 various veterans' and defenders
associations and communities.
The basic motive to set up such a community in the one place is to
attract all those who fought for Croatia in various periods in an
effort to preserve and nurture historical tradition, the
initiating committee commented on Monday.
