"Pragmatic Racan decided to save his hide by entering a legal
dispute with the Hague tribunal to he might try to act a fighter for
Croatia's interests at the coming elections," Condic said.
"The centre is disappointed with the conduct of opposition
political parties in the parliament which are not acting in line
with an agreement reached with the Committee for Promoting the
Truth About the Homeland War," Condic said.
"Although it was agreed that maximum pressure be exerted on the
parliament to have the Constitutional Law on cooperation with the
Hague-based international war crimes tribunal amended, they
accepted two weeks of postponement, and it is questionable whether
the final date of a discussion will be known any time soon," Condic
said, adding that the centre was asking for changes to the
Constitutional Law, and if that did not occur, the carrying out of a
referendum on cooperation with the Hague tribunal.
"The centre wants the entire problem to be solved within Croatian
state institutions and so we allowed ourselves to be led on and have
the cases of (generals) Gotovina and Ademi fall into oblivion, as
well as to be caught by surprise by new indictments in preparation,"
Condic said,
He added that the centre would insist to have the indictments issued
against generals Ante Gotovina and Rahim Ademi pronounced
unconstitutional as well.
