The decision was forwarded to the Croatian government through
diplomatic channels, the government's public relations office
reported Monday.
"The government is satisfied with the decision of the Hague
tribunal to appoint a council of appeals," Prime Minister Ivica
Racan said in a press release.
"This news means a step forward in our efforts to find an optimal
solution to the General Bobetko case."
"I believe that the future development of events will confirm our
commitment to cooperate with the tribunal, by using, among other
things, all available legal options," reads the press release.
The Hague tribunal president's decision will unify procedures
concerning the Croatian government's applications in the Bobetko
case. Judges Jorda, Shahaboddeen, Hunt, Gueney and Pocar have been
appointed to the council.
The government also received from the tribunal's secretariat a
reply from the prosecution to its application to file an
interlocutory appeal against a warrant for the arrest and hand-over
of General Bobetko, as well as a reply to its request for a review of
a judge's decision confirming the indictment and the warrant dating
September 20.
