ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament resumed its 25th
session on Wednesday afternoon with a debate on a Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) motion on a vote of confidence in Prime
Minister Ivica Racan. #L#
The HDZ forwarded the motion into the parliamentary procedure on
September 9 and the deadline, namely 30 days stipulated by the
Constitution, by which the motion had to be discussed and voted on,
expires today.
At its session today, the parliamentary committee for the
Constitution, Rule Book and the Political System supported the
HDZ's motion on a vote of confidence in Premier Racan due to his
policy of solving the border dispute with Slovenia regarding Piran
Bay. The Social Democratic Party was outvoted today at the
committee's session in the attempt to cancel a debate on non-
confidence vote in Racan, due to constitutional and legal reasons.
MPs of the HDZ, the Croatian Party of Rights and the Croatian Social
Liberal Party voted for the debate on a non-confidence vote in the
prime minister, because they believe such a debate was necessary.
