After the meeting, parliament president Zlatko Tomcic was reserved
with reporters in assessing whether progress had been made.
"We must wait for the presidents of parliamentary benches to inform
their representatives of parliament's future work," Tomcic said.
The autumn session will start on September 18, Tomcic said and added
the MPs should that day discuss 13 of a total of 50 items from the
agenda.
The parliament plans to hold a debate on 28 items in the first week
of its session, the parliament president said.
Considering the changes in two parliamentary parties, the Croatian
Social Liberal Party (HSLS) and the Croatian Democratic Union
(HDZ), which resulted in the establishment of two new parliamentary
benches, the co-ordinating body of the parliamentary benches
should decide on the division of seats in parliamentary committees
by the end of the week.
Tomcic pointed to the importance of this job and said that
parliamentary working bodies were often an obstacle to a more
efficient parliament performance.
Asked whether the agenda would include a proposal of the HSLS bench
that parliament holds a debate on the Piran Bay dispute with
Slovenia by September 23, Tomcic said the proposal had not as yet
been officially received. He said parliament would discuss the
proposal if it was sent into parliamentary procedure on time.
