Speaking at the beginning of a meeting of national Stability Pact
coordinators and representatives of the South Eastern Europe
Cooperation Initiative, Busek said he expected that 21 free trade
agreements among the region's countries would be signed by the end
of the year, paving the way for the establishment of a regional free
trade zone in 2003.
Twelve of these agreements have already been signed.
According to Yugoslav representative Jovan Ratkovic, the Belgrade
meeting is discussing initiatives for free trade and investments,
infrastructure development, local democracy and transborder
cooperation, the fight against organised crime and terrorism,
refugee returns, and the armament issue.
