ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Hina) - The Croatia-Hungary economic relations are on an ascending line and a proof of this is last year's increase in trade exchange which amounted to 22.5 percent. One of the main reasons for the Croatia-Hungary
exchange amounting to US$290 million in 2001 was the signing of a free trade agreement, but there are still great potentials in business cooperation to be exploited.

This was concluded at a Hungarian-Croatian business forum at the
international Zagreb Autumn Fair on Thursday. The forum, organised
by the Hungarian Trade Office in Zagreb, gathered representatives
of 65 Croatian and 54 Hungarian companies.
Hungarian Foreign Ministry representative Ferenc Bogar said that
in the first seven months of this year, the two countries' exchange
increased by 29 percent in relation to the same period the year
before. According to him, the interest in establishing joint
companies dealing with trade and tourism is also increasing.
Croatian Chamber of Commerce representative Biserka Paukic said
she expected Croatia's export to increase owing to the work of a
recently founded agency for the stimulation of investments, as well
as a new law on free zones. Paukic said that this year Croatia for
the first time exported more to Hungary than Hungary did to Croatia.
In the first seven months Croatia's export increased by 33 percent
as against the same period the year before.
She said the time had come for the two countries to directly take
advantage of the free trade agreement.
