According to unofficial results from 40% of the polling stations,
70-80 percent of the Croat electorate voted for the coalition and
its presidential candidate Dragan Covic.
Results from nine Croat-majority towns indicate that the coalition
consisting of the HDZ, the Croatian Christian Democrats and the
Croat People's Union enjoy the convincing support of most Croats.
HDZ acting president Barisa Colak is satisfied with the results and
believes that this time the will of the Croat electorate, the least
numerous one in the country, will be respected.
"This time we are confident that the will of the Croat people in
Bosnia-Herzegovina will be finally respected and that there won't
be any electoral engineering as in 2000, when we were removed from
power with unconstitutional decisions," Colak said.
Colak said one of the most important tasks of the new executive
authorities would be the establishment of the rule of law.
