ZAGREB, Oct 4 (Hina) - Croatian Defence Minister Zeljka Antunovic
has said that reporters on Thursday wrongly cited the projected
number of employees at her ministry and the Armed Forces in 2005,
and corrected the cited figure of 19,520 employees, saying there
would be 25,000 personnel in the army by that year. #L#
Reporters wrongly cited data presented at yesterday's government
session at which the Ivica Racan cabinet adopted a programme
(called SPECTRA) of providing for the redundant ministry staff,
reporting that the current number of 40,000 employees would be cut
to some 19,520, Antunovic said at a briefing on Friday.
Minister Antunovic said that the reporters had neglected the data
that about 6,000 people, who would be employed in the process of
rejuvenating the armed forces, should be added to the figure of
19,520 employees and thus the final figure in 2005 would be 25,000.
