THE HAGUE, Oct 4 (Hina) - Croatia's appeal to a Hague war crimes

"The appeal to the content and parts of the indictment has been
submitted to the Appeals Chamber in the form of a diplomatic note,"
Muljacic said.
Muljacic said he could not comment on the details of the appeal at
the moment.
In their first reactions to the indictment, Croatian government
members objected to what they described as the unacceptable
characterisation of the Homeland War, and the media have claimed
that the government wanted to challenge those parts of the
indictment which characterised the Medak Pocket operation as
ethnic cleansing.
Croatia submitted its first appeal to the Appeals Chamber a week
ago, requesting that it be allowed to lodge an appeal to the warrant
for the arrest and hand-over of Gen. Bobetko. According to the
appeal, Gen. Bobetko must not be arrested and handed over due to his
poor health, but the appeal does not comment on the content of the
indictment.
The Appeals Chamber has not yet ruled about the appeal.
The Hague-based tribunal last month indicted the former Croatian
Army Chief-of-Staff for crimes committed in the Medak Pocket
operation in 1993.
