RIJEKA, Oct 1 (Hina) - The Croatian government should exploit all

indictment against retired Croatian General Janko Bobetko, and
after that, act in accordance to the tribunal's order or schedule
early elections, the vice-president of the Istrian democratic
Assembly (IDS), Damir Kajin, said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Kajin believes that the past ten days had been the most difficult
period in the work of the incumbent government. The hurt among the
people, which could have turned into anger, was calmed down by the
Croatian parliament and Prime Minister Ivica Racan who "opted for a
tactic of buying time and leading a policy to please the rightists,"
Kajin said, stating that "this stopped rallies which were difficult
to control".
He supported amendments to the Penal Code which would punish the use
of Ustashi and other fascist symbols, and added that the law did not
need to protect the President from insults.
It is tragic that the recent events clouded all economic and social
issues, such as the announcement of an increase of the government
budget for 2003, Kajin said.
