PULA, Sept 25 (Hina) - Commenting on Croatian President Stjepan Mesic's address to the nation, a Vice President of the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), Damir Kajin, said the speech was a measure expected from the President, but
Kajin wondered how much "Mesic's dissonant tone with the government" was promising, given that only the joint action by Mesic and Premier Ivica Racan could help Croatia and General Janko Bobetko.

Kajin said he agreed that the cooperation with the Hague-based UN
war crimes tribunal was required and that crimes should be
processed with no exception, "as crime could not be committed on
behalf of the state, parliament, government or the Croatian army."
That is why we should point to judges who discredit Croatia's legal
order and the state as a whole, the IDS representative said.
"We must cooperate with the tribunal, as the alternative is
sanctions which would destroy the Croatian economy, social welfare
system and politics and everybody who is not aware of this because
of their selfish interests causes harm to the Croatian people,"
Kajin said.
