allegations of discrimination against and unfair treatment of war
veterans, regardless of whether they joined the Croatian military

Yugoslavia's federal army (JNA) or not. #L#
Zeljka Antunovic said so in response to claims by Croatian Bloc MP
Ivica Tafra, who in parliament on Wednesday spoke of a three-year
campaign against Croatian veterans and generals who were
discriminated against in the Defence Ministry in comparison to
generals from the former JNA.
All who joined the Croatian military as veterans or were transfers
from the JNA are honourable people who took part in the Homeland War
and defended the country, said Antunovic. She added she would not
allow this balance at the Defence Ministry be disrupted, as she said
many were trying to.
Antunovic will supply Tafra with a written answer as to the number
of "officers who were veterans and officers from the ex-JNA"
currently at the Defence Ministry. Tafra maintains that generals
who were veterans were retired and those from the JNA promoted.
The minister said she did not recognise in the military the two
groups mentioned by Tafra. Promotions and retirements at the
Defence Ministry will be carried out in keeping with the law and
equal criteria, she added.
