Mesic received Antunovic for the first time since her appointment.
Talking to reporters afterwards, Antunovic said some open issues
were harmonised and the tasks and deadlines envisaged for the
reorganisation of the military clearly set at the talks. The
working drafts of the reorganisation will soon become official, she
said.
Antunovic said that over the past month her ministry had been
harmonising some issues pertaining to the reorganisation of the
military which had been preventing the passing of rules and decrees
and the start of the reorganisation.
The minister said there remained some three of four open issues
which she stated would be resolved very soon. "The public will be
informed about the final solutions in great detail," she said.
A reporter mentioned that the former defence minister had
complained about cooperation with the Armed Forces General Staff.
Antunovic said that her cooperation at all levels at the Defence
Ministry, with the General Staff and its chief had been good from
day one. She declined to comment on the reasons behind her
predecessor's complaints.
Antunovic said her experience thus far had been positive. She
stressed her task was to ensure maximum and correct cooperation,
find solutions and reach consensus on them as soon as possible.
Also present at today's talks was the ambassador to Croatia's
Mission to NATO, Anton Tus.
