CROATIAN PRESIDENT ARRIVES IN JOAHANNESBURG FOR UN SUMMIT

JOHANNESBURG, Sept 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic arrived in Johannesburg on Sunday evening to take part in the final stage of the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development. #L# Together with more than 100 presidents of state or prime ministers, over the next three days Mesic will attend plenary sessions and round tables aimed at revitalising the concept of sustainable development put forward in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, and at providing answers and mechanisms to face the biggest long-term challenges of global development. Mesic is expected to make an address supporting the goals of the Johannesburg summit and advocating that its conclusions be binding. On the margins of the summit, Mesic will hold a series of bilateral meetings, particularly with the leaders of South Eastern Europe's countries.
