INTERNATIONAL MILITARY ASSISTANCE GAMES AT ZEMUNIK AIRPORT

ZAGREB, Sept 6 (Hina) - As of Monday September 9 through Friday September 13, the military section of the Zemunik Airport near Zadar and the surrounding villages will be the site of military assistance games entitled "The First International Assistance Games of the Organisation for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons)" - ASISTEX-1, the Croatian Defence Ministry reported on Friday. ##L The games are being organised by the Secretariat of the Organisation for banning chemical weapons (OPCW) and the Croatian Organisation Committee presided by Deputy Defence Minister Zeljko Gareljica. The games will involve individuals, teams and units from thirteen countries including Croatia and individuals and groups from twenty OPWC member countries and other international organisations. OPWC has 146 member countries (176 signatory countries). The theme of the games is international assistance in cases of chemical terrorism. This, the statement points out, is the first excersise of its kind ever held, and world circles attribute great significance to its organisation in the fight against international terrorism.
