SFOR spokesman Scott Landy said that SFOR soldiers would conduct
regular duties as well as verify certain information about the
movements of the former Bosnian Serb leader who has been known to
visit Foca. Landy said that the SFOR action would concentrate on the
area east of Foca towards the Montenegrin border.
The information centre in Foca reported that during the day the town
was under a real siege. According to the source, more than 70 SFOR
vehicles have been patrolling the area from Foca to Celibici since
the morning. Allegedly barricades have been put up on all the roads
leading to and from the town, while several roads have been
surrounded with sand bags.
Media in Republika Srpska (RS) reported that the SFOR chief
commander, General John Sylvester, this morning notified RS
President Mirko Sarovic that a military exercise had started around
Foca. Quoting sources in Sarovic's office, the Srna news agency
reported that the SFOR commander said that this was an exercise that
was part of the SFOR mandate.
