Hehet told Hina that this was regular procedure in cases where
prisoners refused food for more than ten days.
He added that Joras had departed for Zagreb accompanied by a doctor
and that he would be given proper medical attention. Joras has lost
seven kilograms in the past 12 days.
Jozko Joras is a Slovene citizen who does not recognise Croatia's
sovereignty in the Istrian village of Mlini where he lives. Since
1999 court proceedings were conducted against him on several
occasions for the violation of customs and other regulations and
misdemeanours, however, as he ignored all court rulings obliging
him to pay fines on August 21 he was taken into custody to serve a 30-
day prison sentence.
Hehet confirmed that while in the prison hospital in Zagreb Joras
would be visited by Slovenia's consul to Zagreb, Marjan Ristic.
