Megawati Sukarnoputri on the margins of the summit.
JOHANNESBURG, Sep 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, who
is taking part in the work of the UN World Summit in Johannesburg on
Monday met with Rumanian President Iono Iliescu and the President
of Indonesia Megawati Sukarnoputri on the margins of the summit.

During the meeting with Iliescu there was talk of the coming visit
of President Mesic to Rumania, as well as the current activities at
the Johannesburg Summit, sources from the Croatian delegation
reported.
Both sides estimated that the conference could be a turning point in
the approach to the problem of sustainable development
particularly when referring to developed countries.
During the meeting with President Sukarnoputri, Croatian President
Mesic spoke about her coming visit to Croatia as well as further
progress in bilateral relations particularly in economy. The two
heads of state also exchanged their opinions on the issues that made
the Summit on Sustainable Development current.
President Mesic also met with a delegation from Bosnia headed by the
chairman of the Council of Ministers, Dragan Mikerevic. On Tuesday,
President Mesic is going to meet with the presidents of Yugoslavia,
Poland and Finland.
The Croatian President will be a guest this evening at an official
reception prepared by South African President Thabo Mbeki for the
heads of states and prime ministers attending the world summit.
