increase by 2.8 percent following the adjustment of the increase of
living costs and average wages, unofficial sources from the
Croatian Bureau of Pension Insurance (HZMO) reported on Thursday.

According to data of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, living
costs in the first six months of 2002 increased by two percent,
while the average gross wage in the same period increased by 3.6
percent in relation to the period between June and December 2001.
The decision on increasing pensions should be confirmed by the HZMO
Steering Council and the first payment is expected in September.
