KRIZEVCI, Aug 28 (Hina) - The Croatian government should debate a
new electricity tariff system on Thursday. Last week the government
turned down a proposal by the HEP power utility company whereby the
price of electricity for households was to increase by an average
15.2 percent. The government demands the maximum increase be nine
percent, which HEP complied with in its latest proposal. #L#
HEP proposes that the price of kWh for single-tariff meters be 60
lipa, 64 lipa for dual-tariff meters during daytime and 32 lipa
during the night. HEP also proposes a uniform 15-kuna monthly
compensation for all consumers.
The price of electricity for households would thus increase by an
average nine percent, HEP management board chairman Ivo Covic
said.
On average, the price of electricity would grow by 4.5 percent,
while HEP's revenue would increase by four percent, said Covic.
He stated that Croatia had to have a tariff system with a clearly
determined price of kWh as this was a tendency in all European
countries.
HEP leaders maintain the new tariff system will facilitate
accounting for monthly electricity bills. The sum will be the
result of multiplying the amount of spent electricity and the price
of kWh. To this is added the monthly compensation and Value Added
Tax.
