On Friday the minister toured construction sites at the highway's
sections "Kupjak-Vrbovsko" and "Vrbovsko-Bosiljevo2- Vukova
Gorica", long 17.76 and 21.37 kilometres respectively.
Of the entire 146.5-kilometre-long motorway, 104.4 kilometres have
already been constructed, and the remaining sections are to be
built by June 2004.
Commenting on the financing of the completion of motorway, Cacic
said some foreign companies had offered the job at the price of 1.8
billion kuna (246.5 million euros), while domestic firms were ready
to build the remaining part for 1.2 billion kuna (EUR164 million).
The public has much speculated about the cancellation of the
agreement with French companies which should have built tunnels at
the motorway, Cacic said adding that the job had to be taken from the
French firms due to low-quality works and the inappropriate price.
Arbitration will decide on the dispute with them, he said.
