Vujic mentioned the construction of libraries in Bjelovar, Knin,
Vukovar, and Lastovo, the upcoming opening of archives of the
Dubrovnik Republic and the start of construction of modern art
museums in Zagreb and Rijeka, the completion of the Modern Gallery
in Zagreb and the Mestrovic Gallery in Split.
Important is also the construction of the "Husnjakovo" Museum of
the Krapina Neanderthal, and the "Narone" Museum in Vid near
Metkovic, Vujic said.
He added that the Euphrasy Basilic in Porec, cultural monuments on
the island of Rab, and the Franciscan Monastery in Vukovar had been
reconstructed, and that a restoration institute was opened in
Split.
Vujic positively assessed the work of cultural councils which he
said had contributed to the respect of the autonomy of the
profession and were an important tie between the ministry and the
public.
