I believe that the time has come for the two governments to attempt
to resolve that problem on a bilateral level, Kucan said on Thursday
at a press conference following his meeting with Beriz Belkic, a
member of Bosnia-Herzegovina's three-man Presidency.
The Slovenian government has insisted until now that this issue
should be resolved within negotiations on succession of the former
Yugoslavia.
Kucan however, said that he would suggest to Ljubljana that the
problem of 250 million in debts to clients of the bank be considered
during negotiations relating to inter-state relations in general.
This would include issues of the imbalance in trade with Bosnia as
well as the visa regime for BiH citizens.
Slovenian media has indicated in the past few days that Sarajevo
could boycott Slovenian products in that country and tied this in
with election campaigning in fear that even though Slovenia is a
major investor in that country, it may gain the image of a "colonial
exploiter".
