ZAGREB, July 12 (Hina) - The chairwoman of the parliamentary
internal affairs' and national security committee, Djurdja Adlesic
of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), said on Friday she
would resign to this duty next week. #L#
She did not wish to explain the reasons for her decision in detail,
but considering the fact that her party is joining the Opposition,
it cannot be expected that a HSLS deputy remains the chairperson of
such an important committee.
Adlesic told Hina in a brief phone interview that she had
"activated" her resignation as the president of the HSLS
parliamentary bench, which she submitted a year ago with an
explanation that she wanted to be dedicated to her obligations as
Bjelovar's mayor.
She said she would remain the president of her party's
parliamentary bench until the parliament autumn's session.
Asked to comment on speculations that some MPs and resigned
government members who founded or supported the establishment of
the Bench of Independent Liberals were trying to make up with the
party leadership, Adlesic briefly said: "We agreed not to talks
about it."
