One of the MPs, Mladen Godek, told journalists that the HSLS should
exclude anyone causing damage to their party and ruining its
reputation. Godek, however, did not specify whether he was
referring to Budisa.
He added that he voted in favour of the agreement in line with his
conscience, and that he would not regret any repercussions
regardless of what they may be because he felt better for what he had
done.
Ivo Skrabalo said that the ball was in the HSLS Statutory
Commission's court. "I am not going to withdraw from the party and
if they feel like throwing me out, let it be," Skrabalo said.
He condemned the HSLS's move last week when they left the
parliament, stating that they obstructed the work of the parliament
and left the coalition without a quorum, which meant that MPs could
not take a vote on the power plant deal. Skrabalo said he voted for
the agreement because within the framework of Croatian-Slovene
relations and Croatia's position within the international
community, the agreement was "more constructive than negative."
Zrinjka Glovacki-Bernardi said that the HSLS was behaving
destructively and that in the morning the party had decided to vote
in favour of the agreement, yet in the evening, it was to vote
against it. Behaviour like that is unacceptable, Glovacki-
Bernardi, said, adding that an early election would be a bad
solution for Croatia.
During the vote on the agreement on the nuclear power plant, eight
HSLS MPs abstained, nine voted against and six in favour of the
deal.
Djurdja Adlesic, the party's bench leader, recalled that the bench
had decided that their members would abstain from voting.
She emphasised that the Statutory Commission was authorised to
decide on any possible sanctions against members who did not adhere
to this decision, pursuant to a recommendation by any party
member.
