The Croatian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Zoning said
in a statement on Thursday the project on the protection and
management of wolves would reinforce the institutional protection,
management, and monitoring of wolves. The project also envisages
the renewal of the wolf population and the raising of awareness of
and knowledge about co-existence with wolves.
The project is worth 664,810 euros, including a European Union
donation of 418,200 euros.
The project on the establishment of a national ecology network as
part of the Pan-European Network and the network NATURA 2000 will
enable competent environmental protection bodies to implement
international obligations pertaining to the process of admission
to the EU. The project is worth 539,700 euros, and the EU will donate
375,095 euros.
"Corine Database of Croatia's Covers" is the third project, which
is used to interpret satellite photos and compare cover changes in
1980, 1990, and 2000. The project is primarily intended for urban
designers. It is worth 749,320 euros, with the EU donating 499,479
euros.
The said projects are part of the process of meeting requirements
for EU membership.
