Tonci Tadic of the Croatian Party of Rights/Christian Democratic
Union (HSP/HKDU) bench said farm subsidies were a failure, as
Croatia was still importing food.
He proposed the separation of the market-oriented producers from
those who were not competitive, and the introduction of social aid
for small households and farms with elderly people.
Tadic urged a ban on the production and distribution of genetically
modified products.
As regards the fishing, the government should proclaim an economic
belt, but unfortunately it had no feeling for it, the HSP MP
complained.
Drago Krpina of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) severely
slammed the strategy.
Claiming that the document was unnecessary and without purpose,
Krpisa said it was unusual that on the day of its fall the government
proposed the strategy for the entire century.
This strategy can be a good plan for the 30th century as well, since
it can neither improve nor spoil anything, said Marko Baricevic on
behalf of the Social Liberals (HSLS).
On behalf of the Social Democrats (SDP), Zeljko Malevic, supported
the strategy but criticised it for a lack of attention on the
important issues such as the management over arable land, given
that the item was one of significant criteria for the admission in
the European Union.
