ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - Croatia's parliament will tomorrow once
again try to vote on the government's motion for the ratification of
the agreement on the Krsko nuclear power plant. #L#
Premier Ivica Racan said he expected that the government's proposal
be supported by a majority, adding that the agreement with Slovenia
was in the Croatian economic interest.
The parliament's president, Zlatko Tomcic, also believes that
Sabor will give the green light for this agreement. Tomcic does not
expect obstruction like the walk-out of HSLS (Croatian Social
Liberal) MPs from the parliament's hall on Friday night when the
parliament was prevented from making a decision.
MPs should also vote on about 15 items they already discussed and I
do not think there will be any obstruction because of the serious
matters, Tomcic said.
The Slovene parliament has not ratified the Krsko deal either.
Had the two parliaments ratified the document by 1 July, Croatia
would have started taking over the electricity from the Krsko plant
after a four-year-long break.
