Investments not being carried out in 2001 seem to be a problem in
almost all these companies despite the government's expectations.
Instead of the expected 1.45 billion euros only 1.02 billion euros
or 70 percent of the planned was in fact invested.
Nevertheless all companies recorded positive improvements with an
increased revenue of 12 percent and expenditure of 9 percent and a
total of 3.40 million euros in profits.
The government said that it would need to re-examine reports on some
companies, particularly ACI and Vjesnik daily which marked
significant losses.
Deputy Prime Minister Drazen Budisa believes that based on the
losses recorded in Vjesnik it was perhaps time to consider the
company's privatisation.
The government also objected to the fact that despite a recommended
freeze on salaries in state owned companies, some nevertheless
recorded significant salary increases.
