Danica Stojanovic took the witness stand today. Her husband Nikola
disappeared from Gospic in October 1991. Stojanovic told the panel
of judges that she had known nothing of her husband's whereabouts
since he had been taken away.
She said that she had been in Rijeka at the time and was told by her
neighbours that three men in a civilian car had taken her husband in
an unknown direction from in front of his house.
The president of the panel of judges, Ika Saric, presented
documents found during a September 1991 search of indictee Tihomir
Oreskovic's flat, when police found documents of the then Crisis
Centre for Lika region, where Oreskovic was a secretary. Saric also
presented military and Oreskovic's personal files and
correspondence.
Tihomir Oreskovic, Ivica Rozic, Mirko Norac, Milan Canic and
Stjepan Grandic are indicted for organising and carrying out the
abduction of civilians as well as their liquidation. They are
accused of killing more than 40 civilians, mostly of Serb
nationality.
