WASHINGTON, June 13 (Hina) - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) requested that former US diplomat Robert Holbrooke testify in the trial of Slobodan Milosevic. The US administration is trying to set
the terms of Holbrook's testimony, deputy spokesman for the State Department Philip Reeker said on Thursday.
WASHINGTON, June 13 (Hina) - The International Criminal Tribunal
for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) requested that former US diplomat
Robert Holbrooke testify in the trial of Slobodan Milosevic. The US
administration is trying to set the terms of Holbrook's testimony,
deputy spokesman for the State Department Philip Reeker said on

He said the US government must protect its diplomats and state
officials, as well as possible data and information of national
interest.
He did not wish to comment on details, including media speculations
that Washington demanded that former US peace mediator, the
architect of the Dayton Agreement and US Ambassador to the UN,
testify at a closed session of the ICTY trial Chamber at The Hague.
The US government did not agree that former Secretary of State Henry
Kissinger testify before a Spanish court in the trial against
former Chilean dictator August Pinochet in 2001.
