ZAGREB/BELGRADE, June 14 (Hina) - On June 13 and 14, a fourth round
of negotiations was held in Belgrade in relation to an agreement on
free trade between Croatia and Yugoslavia, the Croatian Economy
Ministry reported on Friday. #L#
This is the first time that representatives from Montenegro were
involved in the negotiations.
Within the framework of special working groups, negotiations were
held over concrete models of liberalising trade for agricultural-
food products as well as its dynamics and the possible inclusion of
liberalising trade with industrial products and finally with
issues relating to the origin of goods.
For most industrial products it was agreed that customs should be
abolished on the day the agreement comes into affect while a smaller
portion of these products will be subject to a gradual decrease in
customs with a final date of January 1, 2007 for customs to be
abolished entirely. A certain number of agricultural-food products
will fall within the agreement while the continuation of
negotiations will continue at the end of June in Zagreb.
The meeting of representatives of both Croatia and Yugoslavia is
scheduled for the second half of July this year in Zagreb. Mutual
interest was expressed that this be the date to finalise
negotiations.
During this round, Croatia pointed out to the problem relating to
regulations that do not allow export of oil derivatives, some dairy
products, medicines and the like to Yugoslavia and without a
solution to this problem, free trade between the two countries will
not be possible.
