The ministerial conference of Central and Southeast European
countries on 11-12 June is organised by the World Trade
Organisation (WTO) secretariat and has gathered around 120
participants from 18 countries in the region, as well as officials
of regional and international organisations.
Opening the event, WTO Director-General Mike Moore said the
conference was an occasion for WTO members as well as for aspirants
to work together on the growth and development of the region and to
take active part in a new round of negotiations on the further
liberalisation of the world trade.
The purpose of the Zagreb conference is to address some issues which
will crop up in the new round of negotiations on the liberalisation
of world trade, launched at last year's WTO summit meeting in
Qatar's capital Doha.
