Croatia's Integration Minister Neven Mimica spoke about Croatia's
path to the European Union. He welcomed the founding of the combined
Croatian-Austrian chamber of trade as a contribution to the further
strengthening of co-operation between the two countries.
As Mimica said, Croatia will fulfil all the pre-conditions required
for membership to the EU by the end of 2006. Next year, Croatia will
submit a formal request for membership.
Minister Mimica spoke with the president of the local government of
Styria, Waltraud Klasnik.
The director of Raiffeisenlandesbank Styria (RLB) and the
president of the newly founded Croatian-Austrian Chamber of Trade,
Georg Doppelhofer emphasised that the main objective of the chamber
would be to promote Austrian-Croatian trade relations - support
Austrian and Croatian companies in finding new business partners
and improve future co-operation and individual contact, etc.
Austria's direct investments into Croatia by 2001 amounted to two
million euro making it the largest foreign investor in Croatia.
