ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) - The Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU) expects its new members to quickly become involved in the Academy's activities as the basic carriers of science and art, the Academy's president, Ivo Padovan,
said on Friday at a ceremonious appointment of eight new regular members to the Academy.

(HAZU) expects its new members to quickly become involved in the
Academy's activities as the basic carriers of science and art, the
Academy's president, Ivo Padovan, said on Friday at a ceremonious
appointment of eight new regular members to the Academy. #L#
The new regular members are: Nenad Cambi for Social Sciences,
Stjepan Gamulin for Natural Science, Vladimir Goldner for Medical
Science, Nikica Kolumbic for Philosophical Science, Tonko
Maroevic, Ante Stamac, Ivan Kusan for literature and Ivo Senjanovic
for Technical Science.
Another 15 new members were appointed as associate members to the
Academy and 13 members were confirmed as associates.
Padovan also appointed eight new correspondent members. These
being: Charles Bene, retired professor at Stendhalova University
in Grenoble (France), Eduard Calic, a publicist and scientist who
lives and works in Austria, Matko Cikes, and oncologist who lives
and works in Switzerland, Mirjan Damaska, a regular professor at
the law school at Yale University .
Today, HAZU has 392 members in all its departments amongst whom 155
are regular members, 144 correspondent members who mostly live
abroad, and 93 associates.
