"If the initialled agreement on the border is no longer valid, we
will wait and see what Croatia will do. As far as we are concerned,
the talks are over. The agreement has been initialled and the
Croatian government will have to find a way out of the current
situation," Rupel told Slovene Radio.
The Slovene official was commenting on an interview Picula gave the
TV station Koper-Capodistria, in which the Croatian official
reiterated that there was no majority in the Croatian parliament to
adopt the agreement, which has been initialled, but not signed and
ratified.
The Slovene media, which carried parts of Picula's statement,
consider it a sign that the Croatian side might back out of the
agreement.
Slovene Radio quoted Rupel as saying the decision to back out of the
agreement would be detrimental to Croatia, adding that previous
official statements from Zagreb were different.
